NAMA Ethics Standards

The following points are drawn from the NAMA ethics excerpt shown on the live Weber Appraisal Services site.

  1. The conduct of the appraisers should at all times be professional, with due regard to the rights of the client and the public. The information and results of the appraisal shall be confidential between the appraiser and the client and may not be revealed without the permission of the client.
  2. The appraiser shall keep fully informed regarding the facts and circumstances surrounding the real property in the areas where appraisal may be made and remain aware of matters affecting real estate, including city, county and state actions, along with continuing education opportunities.
  3. The appraiser shall not be a party to, or prepare an appraisal report, knowing that the facts contained therein are not true in whole or in part, or that significant facts have been knowingly omitted.
  4. The appraiser shall not be a party to an appraisal where the fee is contingent upon the final estimate of value, provide testimony where the fee is contingent upon the outcome of the court case, or appraise property where the appraiser has an interest without full disclosure to all parties.
  5. The appraiser shall not attempt to appraise property that is beyond the experience or education of the appraiser unless competent assistance is obtained and full disclosure is made in the report.
  6. The appraiser shall comply with all laws and regulations applicable to real estate appraisal.
